| Meet Ruby Jean |
Terri told us how she fell in love with Daschunds, “We have had several Daschunds in the past 20 years. Our last doxie was a male named Rudy and he was our family, a wonderful dog. Two years ago he was put down as he had heart issues. I started to look at the local shelters and in the paper and finally online for a dog who was already trained. These pups were Tweenie Daschunds, between a full size and a mini. Ruby was the one who still needed a full time home. She is a wonderful, affectionate dog who needed lots of attention. We are blessed to have her in our lives.”

Ruby is a Doxie with Moxie
Things got off to a bit of a rough start with Ruby. Terri told us, “We got Ruby when she was already 4 and a half years old. She was very anxious and afraid to leave the foster home. She was and still is very “mouthy” barking at everyone and especially other dogs. She barked at her new dad for 6 weeks each time he came into the house. She got into my purse on top of the dining room table and opened a container of pills and ate a few. She was sick all weekend and had to be treated by the Vet. A thousand dollars later she was fine with no damage from the pills.”
A Day in the Life of Ruby
“Ruby gets up early with her dad and gets fed just after a walk outside,” Terri told us. “She then lays on the couch with her dad until I wake up. Then she comes to lie in the bed with her mom for about 5 minutes before I rise. She sleeps during the day and watches the activity outside the front door. She also guards the house very well. She loves to ride on the golf cart with her dad. She also loves long walks though she has short legs.”
A Dog of the People
Always one to be the center of attention, Terri tells us that, “She is extremely needy for attention. She will use her nose to get our hands to pat her. She gets right into our face when sitting with us. She will roll over for a belly rub and Ruby is always happy to see us. She will grab a toy and bring it to us to play with her and will do anything to engage us.”

True to BLUE
It seems Ruby has a particular fondness for fish. Terri told us, “Ruby loves to eat and is fond of her BLUE kibbles. She especially loves the salmon flavor.”
