Cat Trading Card of the Month
Meet Cheshire
“Cheshire was a feral kitten that a friend's tomcat, Freddy, brought home after a large storm,” says Brandi. “Freddy had dragged this little kitten home soaking wet and placed him on my friend’s chest while he was sleeping. I received a picture message showing this tiny little soaked kitten, who looked like a drowned rat, at about five in the morning.

"Freddy had dragged this little kitten home soaking wet and placed him on my friend’s chest while he was sleeping."

He was tiny! My friend already had two cats and knew I wanted one, and so Cheshire was given to me to care for and he has been my baby ever since.”

Catnip? He Prefers Tea.

Cheshire has a yen for stimulating beverages. “He loves to try and drink coffee,” says Brandi, “and I remember when he was small, doing tricks when my grandfather would visit to try and get his coffee.”

"Cheshire was hyper for a week after!"

Cheshire appreciates tea, too. “I had just bought a new box of mint tea and set it with the other tea on the windowsill,” remembers Brandi. “I then went out and upon returning found my brand new box of tea mangled on the kitchen floor with a couple bags chewed up. Cheshire was hyper for a week after!”

Hungry Enough to Chew Your Toes

“Cheshire is very picky about his schedule,” says Brandi. “He has to have breakfast as soon as I get up and supper at 6:00 p.m. “If Cheshire doesn’t get his food on time, he will get upset and munch toes. In between eating,” she continues, “he loves to tease his fur brother Philthy, our bunny, and be teased by our newest addition, Roscoe, our rescue puppy. He loves to watch out the window and often meows and kind of barks at the pigeons.”

"Cheshire seems to think he is a
dog trapped in a cat’s body."

“Barking” isn’t the only doglike thing Cheshire does. “Cheshire seems to think he is a dog trapped in a cat’s body,” says Brandi. “He knows ‘sit’ and ‘sit pretty’ as well as his name, and will come when whistled to. He also has to greet all visitors at the door.” But when the rest of the world is sleeping, Cheshire is all cat. “He romps and plays all hours of the night,” says Brandi. “He likes to pin us down by lying in the weirdest positions on the bed.”

Cheshire’s Open Door Policy

Another place Cheshire enjoys is the sofa. “He dominates our couch and refuses to move for anyone,” says Brandi. “Cheshire is very inquisitive and has a bit of a devilish streak.” When he’s not busy with other things, “he is plotting how to torment his humans while lounging on the sofa. He also refuses to let me close any door all the way including the bathroom door or he will cry and scratch like no tomorrow!”

Cheshire and BLUE

“I compared my brand to BLUE and requested a coupon,” says Brandi, “because I liked what was in BLUE's ingredients. Cheshire seems to like his new food. I am hoping he will be much healthier because of it.”
