| Meet Tiny Teddy Bear |
Choosing which kitten to take when at the breeders became an easy decision for Kristine and her husband. “This one kitten kept crawling up our legs. It was a call for attention,” Kristine says.
The little leg-climber turned out to be Tiny (more on the name later). “My husband picked him and we took him home.” Tiny was their second Maine Coon. “We chose another Maine Coon because of their size and personality.”
Tiny? Not By A Longshot
As Kristine describes, Tiny was a “peanut” as a little kitten. “He literally had to grow into his ears,” Kristine recalls. “They were so big when he was a kitten that he looked like a bat.”
“We watched him grow before our eyes each day as he stretched out on our laps. He just kept growing!” And that’s an understatement—Tiny now weighs in at 22 lbs.
“We watched him grow before
our eyes each day as he stretched out
on our laps. He just kept growing!”
From the very beginning, Kristine knew Tiny loved them. “He began greeting us at the door with gifts when we came home from work. Tiny would drag teddy bears and miscellaneous laundry items from downstairs and leave them in front of the door for us to find when we came home!”
Tiny's Day Starts By
Waking Up His Pet Parents
Cooing, head butts, tender pats on their faces with his paws…these are just some of things Tiny does to get his pet parents to wake up in the morning. If that doesn’t work, he crawls on top of them and tickles their faces with his whiskers.
“He tells us when it’s time to eat and when it’s time to get some fresh air outdoors. Sometimes he lets us sleep in and cuddles by my side. His bed is our bed, thank goodness for king size beds. Tiny takes up his share of the bed stretching head to food between the two of us or curling up in the corner by my head.
When it comes to his cat food, Tiny will “talk up” a storm until he gets it. “He gets so excited when his food is prepared—he loves to have warm water over his morning portion of BLUE to make it even tastier,” Kristine relates.

When Kristine and her husband leave for work, Tiny watches them walk out the door with big puppy eyes and jumps up into the window to watch them leave the driveway. When they return and pull into the driveway, Tiny is patiently waiting in the window to greet them.
Kristine adds, “as we come to the door you can see the tops of his ears and two big white paws grabbing at the door window as if he is trying and open it for us! He is starved for affection and follows me everywhere seeking attention.”
As the family prepares dinner, Tiny doesn’t let them forget that he needs to eat first. After dinner he paws at the door and asks to go out for a walk. “He doesn’t always get this wish,” Kristine tells, “and he is not very happy when he is scolded for being so persistent!”
Tiny May Really Be A Dog
Tiny loves to go outside in the yard to explore on a leash. “He also likes to sit on the deck watching the birds on the deck with his “humans”, Kristine jokes. “He will go for short walks on the leash and enjoys meeting the neighborhood dogs. He is not very shy and more curious to meet these new furry friends.”
“Tiny loves to play, even fetch—
Tiny is a dog in a cat suit”
When he’s off the leash, Tiny likes running after sticks Kristine and the family throw for him. “Tiny loves to play, even fetch—Tiny is a dog in a cat suit,” Kristine relates. “He sits, begs and gives kisses and will even lie down when told. His next trick will be to roll over! He also loves it when it is time to change the sheets on the bed. He loves to jump up and hide under the sheets. I throw them up and over the bed to spread them! If I put him on the floor he springs right back up onto the bed and makes a game out of being caught!
Interestingly, Tiny is mesmerized by water and loves to jump into the tub. He loves ice cubes and comes running to the fridge whenever someone uses the icemaker. “We give him a piece of ice,” Kristine says, “and watch him swat it around a bit. But his favorite thing is to stare it down and watch it melt. If you want him to come running quick, just turn the icemaker on. He literally runs to the refrigerator giving you his complete attention, whining for a cube!”
Is Tiny The Next American Idol?
The wildest thing that Tiny ever did was on Kristine’s birthday. “My husband and daughter had lit the candles on my cake and presented it to me with the three of us all standing up,” Kristine recalls. “As they presented the cake to me they sang happy birthday, and as they sang Tiny came to the center of our gathering and began to sing along! It was incredible; it was like he knew to sing along. I will never forget that amazing moment. We all burst out laughing!”

Tiny and BLUE
When Kristine got Tiny, her breeder recommended a cat food that did not contain any corn meal because corn can trigger allergies in some cats. “I was on the hunt for a wholesome corn-free product for our Tiny and our other cat, Yoda, when I found Blue Buffalo,” Kristine shares. “I love everything about Blue Buffalo and the nutrition it offers, and I am confident that I am giving my pets the best. The trading cards are a bonus and are so much fun, and the best part is that Tiny and Yoda love it too!”
